Have you found yourself in the path of the waves of life and feel like you keep getting knocked over? You aren't alone in the ocean of life. God is right there with you. Learn how to extend your arms to your Father and trust He will never let you go with today's message.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Isaiah 43:2 (NIV)
Recently, while we were at the beach on our family vacation, I spent a lot of time in the ocean. Well not as much as I would have liked - since the twins preferred the pool over the sand - but when I was in the ocean and watching the ceaseless waves roll in over and over, it made me think about life.
One wave looked so big before it got to me, but by the time it reached me, it had fizzled out and didn’t even reach my knees. The next wave looked so small in the distance, that I turned my back on it to walk the other way, and then, bam! It all but knocked me off of my feet.
I couldn’t help but think how often this is how the waves of life come at us. Some problems look so big and scary and then turn out to be no big deal. While other problems in life sneak up from behind and knock the wind out of us!!
While playing with my kids in the ocean, I noticed how they would reach for me, or if they were already holding on to me, they would hold on so much tighter when they saw that big wave coming. Why? Why did the strength of their grip on me increase when they saw that huge wave coming at them? Because they KNEW that I would keep their head above the water. They knew that they could hold on to me and I would keep them safe. I would be their anchor and I would make sure that they made it safely through that wave.
"For we walk by faith, not by sight."
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NASB)
That’s what God is for me, it’s what He wants to be for everyone. There are few things that are guaranteed in this life. One of them is that the tides will continue to turn, and the waves will always keep coming, both physically and figuratively.

Friend, can I encourage you to let God be your anchor? Hold on to Him daily and hang on tighter when the waves try to wash over you. The waves will come, and the waves will go, but your anchor will not move!
